Safety
Community rules
23 July 2026
These rules apply to club names and descriptions, public pages, polls, options, images, links and any other content users contribute to Readendar.
Be respectful and authentic
- Do not harass, threaten, shame, stalk or target people with degrading abuse.
- Do not discriminate or promote hatred against people based on protected characteristics.
- Do not impersonate another person or organisation, misrepresent an affiliation or coordinate deceptive activity.
- Respect club boundaries. Administrators must use moderation powers fairly and members must not disrupt or manipulate votes.
Keep people safe
Do not post or facilitate:
- credible threats, incitement to violence, terrorism or violent extremist activity;
- sexual exploitation, grooming, sexual content involving minors, or non-consensual intimate material;
- instructions intended to enable suicide, serious self-harm, trafficking or other serious wrongdoing;
- malware, phishing, fraud, spam or attempts to obtain credentials or personal data.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate emergency service. Readendar is not an emergency service.
Respect privacy and intellectual property
Do not disclose private personal data without a lawful reason or upload material you do not have the right to use. Short quotations and book metadata may be lawful in some contexts, but users remain responsible for their submissions. Do not upload full books or use cover art outside the permissions granted by the relevant rights holder or catalogue provider.
Moderation measures
Depending on context, severity, history and legal duties, Readendar may limit visibility, remove content, disable a link, restrict a feature, warn a user, suspend an account or terminate it. Where appropriate and legally permitted, the affected user receives a reason and may contest the decision by replying to the notice or contacting hello@readendar.com.
Club administrators may take local measures within their club. Readendar may still review content or conduct that affects the wider service.
Reporting
Use the report control on a poll when available. For suspected illegal content, use the Illegal-content notice process. For other violations, include the exact URL or club/poll identifier, what happened and any useful context in an email to hello@readendar.com.
Do not submit reports to silence legitimate criticism or harass another user. Good-faith reports do not breach these rules merely because no violation is ultimately found.
